Rome College and Career Academy

The recently completed 164,000 sf Rome College and Career Academy was designed by Southern A&E and opened to the public in February of 2021. Some of the unique classrooms/labs featured in the facility include Cyber Security, Broadcast Production, Sports Medicine, Veterinary Services, Manufacturing, and Fire/Police. The new CCA also houses an indoor 55 yard synthetic turf practice field along with lockers and weight training.
LaGrange High School Athletic Facility
516 N. Greenwood St., LaGrange, GA 30240
The new LaGrange High Athletic Complex was designed and constructed for the Troup County School System. The center features a 35 yard indoor synthetic turf field, a large gymnasium with bleachers on three sides. The second level of the gymnasium contains a walking/running track surrounding the court. The facility also features a large wrestling/cheerleading room, weight training, multi-purpose rooms, and classrooms.
Pope-McGinnis Student Activity Center

The new student activity center at Carrollton High School serves not only multiple sports at the high school, but also the community. A 100 yard indoor synthetic turf field is the highlight of the facility. Multiple bay doors help with air circulation along with industrial sized fans. The center also features a gymnasium, weight training, indoor sprint track, offices, lockers, and team meeting/multi-purpose rooms.
Carrollton High School

Southern A&E is pleased to announce that Phase 1 of the 3 Phase construction project at Carrollton High School is complete. With an aesthetically pleasing two story entrance, the three story lobby is a must see. The main level of Phase 1 consists of the Administration and Special Education Suites. The middle and top levels have a total of 27 classrooms along with the Music and Art rooms. To top it all off, a school store has been included in the design to allow swift accessibility for students in need of last-minute school spirit. We look forward to updating you on Phases 2 and 3 upon their completion!"
Carroll County Performing Arts

The main entrance to the center entails a two-story lobby that has quick access to the balcony level of the auditorium. There is a total of 1,132 seats in the auditorium; the balcony can seat 384 people, while the main floor can seat 748 people. Not only is there a plethora of seating, but there are multiple maple wood wall and ceiling box diffusers that scatter and diffuse sound for the best possible acoustical performance. With a 324” retractable screen and a floating maple wood floor than can accommodate different purposes, the Carroll County Performing Arts Center is a must see!
Anna K. Davie Elementary

Anna K. Davie Elementary was a replacement school for the old AKD Elementary. The new school was constructed in 2015 with a total square footage of 84,526. The two story elementary school features a large media center with collaborative learning spaces for the students and conference rooms and offices for the faculty. A large corridor greets visitors into the school with administrative offices and visitor waiting. Each hall is color coded per grade level and has its own technology lab.
Rabun Primary School

Rabun Primary’s mountain top location in the Northeast corner of Georgia provides students and teachers with a 360 degree scenic view of the surrounding area. The new primary school is 130,275 square feet. Some of the unique features include bamboo flooring in all classrooms, way-finding by the the use of color and floor patterns, and collaborative learning areas attached to each grade level. The gymnasium takes advantage of solar tracking skylights which provide ample lighting throughout the day.
Red Bud Middle School

Red Bud Middle was constructed in 2014 with a total of 53 instructional units. The two story middle school features a large media center with collaborative learning spaces for the students and conference rooms and offices for the faculty. A large corridor greets visitors to the school with administrative offices and visitor waiting. A large gymnasium was designed for the middle school that could handle competitive events and physical education classes.
Calhoun High School

The new Calhoun High School was part of a three year multi-building process for Calhoun City Schools that included a new gymnasium and a new middle school. The new high school consists of 62 classrooms and labs totaling over 170,500 square feet. Highlighted areas of the new high school include: a culinary arts laboratory, a multi-level cafeteria with separate senior seating, a high-tech media center, and a truly customizable black-box theater.
Coosa High School

Phase 1 of Coosa High School was completed in the fall of 2015. The new building has three levels housing 54 instructional units. The school features a multi-level cafeteria and media center along with a large central commons area with a staircase spanning all three levels. Technology hubs are located in all of the commons areas and feature benches with built in charging stations. Phase 2 of Coosa High added a new competition gymnasium and an auditorium to the site.

Habersham Central High

In the summer of 2011, Southern A&E completed a 300,600 new high school for the Habersham County School District. When designing the new high school, Southern A&E openly incorporated sustainability into the its many features. Environment friendly LVT was used in the main atrium, cool metal roofing was applied to the exterior of the school and high efficiency, energy recovery HVAC units were used. The high school also features a 2,000 seat gymnasium and a 650 seat auditorium.
New Manchester High School

New Manchester High School is a brand new facility designed for the Douglas County School System. The high school was built in response to the growing student population in the county and features three large educational and administrative wings, a performing arts center, a two-court gymnasium and a athletic complex that houses baseball/softball fields, tennis courts, a field house and a synthetic turf football stadium. New Manchester has a total overall square footage of 378,944.

Hamilton McPherson Performing Arts

The 550 seat performing arts center was design for the Bremen City School System in 2011. A large multi-use corridor on the side of the performing arts center allows for events/ceremonies to be held without disturbing the main entry of the center. A choral room towards the back of the performing arts center provides students with a large practice facility. The new center for Bremen City provides the perfect setting for school system/public events.
Carrollton High Athletics

Grisham Stadium consists of a 3,000 seat home grandstand and a three level pressbox containing, private suites, press level and camera deck. A synthetic turf field was incorporated into the overall site allowing for adequate performance and draining capabilities on the field. The site also features a completely renovated competition gymnasium, new softball facility and a two level fieldhouse with weigh, team meeting, laundry, locker rooms, and a hall of fame.

The 12,000 seat high school stadium serves a dual purpose as the home field for two schools in Houston County. The stadium field is full synthetic turf with an elevated landscaping turf seating area for spectators in the home end zone. Stadium guests walk into the stands at a mid cross aisle and then decide to either head down into the cast in place concrete stands or up into the all aluminum grand stands. For the players, a nearly 7,000 square foot conditioned field house was designed with full locker rooms, restroom facilities, and training rooms for home/visiting teams.
Alexander High Gymnasium
6500 Alexander Parkway, Douglasville, GA 30135
The new 55,657 sq. ft. competition gymnasium is a state-of-the-art facility designed by Southern A&E in 2015. A large concessions area greets fans once they enter the on the second level. A walking/running track surrounds the upper level of the gym along with four corners of trophy cases. The gym has seating on three sides and a large weight training facility situated towards the rear of the building. Large locker rooms for all sports are also contained within the new gym.
University of West Georgia Athletics

Southern A&E was proud to have worked closely with the University of West Georgia to provide them with "a place to call home". A new 9,000 seat stadium was completed and ready 2009 football season. An athletic office building was also constructed on site which features home and visitor lockers, a hall of fame, a large weight training facility, offices, team meeting, and clinic.
Marshall University Athletics
Huntington, West Virginia
Southern A&E has had the privilege of working for Marshall University since 2006. Since that time we have completed a 13,000 sq. ft. weight training facility, renovated the Shewey Athletic Center and added 4 new suites to Joan C. Edwards Stadium.

Yachiyo Manufacturing Plant

Yachiyo Manufacturing is a new facility built in an existing industrial park near Carrollton, Georgia. Southern A&E worked as a partner with Shimizu Contractors in this design/build project. Covering over 96,000 square feet, Yachiyo manufactures vehicle parts at this facility. It was constructed with the ability to expand production with an additional 86,000 square foot addition.
Bud Kelley Park
1605 Kelleytown Road, McDonough, GA 30252
Southern A&E is very honored to have helped the town of McDonough, GA design and complete Bud Kelley Park. The park consists of a playground for children, and a fitness course for their parents. There are several pavilions that not only offer shade, but a place for the whole family to gather. The walking trails have shaded benches periodically placed along the path allowing folks to catch their breath, or to absorb the surrounding nature. Mr. Bud Kelley would be honored to have a park named after him in the community he so dearly loved.
